As a young man Ruel James grew up in Jamaica and has since traveled all over the world. In 1969, Ruel Attended and Graduated Royal College of Art in London, UK where he studied Fine Art, Graphics & Restoration, Sculpting, and Illustration.
The Royal College of Art Offers Graduate Diploma, MA, MRes, MPhil and Ph.D. degrees in twenty-eight subject areas, divided into four schools: architecture, arts & humanities, communication & design. The history of design programme is in collaboration with the Victoria and Albert Museum; there are two double MA/MSc programmes in design engineering with Imperial College London, one of which also includes periods of study at Keio University in Tokyo and at the Pratt Institute in New York.
This exclusive and world-famous art school was established in 1837 as the Government School of Design and then later in 1896 evolved into the Royal College of Art.
In the 1980s and 90’s, Ruel was commissioned by major manufacturers to paint cars for Ferrari, Jaguar, Aston Martin, and Shelby – which has a museum out at the racetrack where a few of his paintings can be seen. Ruel has been commissioned a lot to paint women and he is the type of artist who wants to please everyone.
Ruel has been a Las Vegas resident for more than 25 years and married the love of his life, Sheryl in 1989.

Christopher, and 2 daughters, Cristal, and Kirstie.

There he continues an amazing career that has earned him a reputation as one of the world’s premier artists. Among those who have recognized the quality of Ruel’s is former president Bill Clinton, the proud owner of a Ruel James’ portrait of his wife, then Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. At the Palazzo Hotel Casino on the Las Vegas Strip, on the north side by the escalators facing Wynn Las Vegas, you will see beautiful angles on the building, sculpted and created by Jamaican-born artist Ruel James.
A critically acclaimed high-profile project of Ruel’s was The Las Vegas Mob Experience at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino, which featured his sculptures of some of the nation’s most famous organized crime fighters.
