After several months residing and working in Manhattan, Ruel met who would be the love of his life, Sheryl, in a popular midtown bar/restaurant called Twenty-Twenty; located at 20 West 20th. It was then owned by popular recording artists Ashford & Simpson. They were married two years later and then moved back to England.
Ruel had many friends and contacts in the London area, but chose to live in West Yorkshire, the countryside of Leeds, where he also had several good friends. Shortly after arriving there, he secured a position with Chromagene Ltd, a well known Art & Design Studio in downtown Leeds.
Ruel produced several design projects and various illustrations through Chromagene, for many companies in the North of England.
Ruel was also recognized as the world’s best “car “artist. His renditions of automobiles are so perfect that they are often mistaken for actual photographs.
While in Leeds, Ruel got commissioned by Aston Martin to create a painting for a huge Marketing Campaign that they were planning to launch. He painted a gorgeous British green 1990 Aston Martin Lagonda, with a scenic skyline background. And, Ruel was personally invited for a private tour of the Aston Martin Factory. Their headquarters and 55-acre main production facility is located in Gaydon, Warwickshire, England. And, YES, these car parts are truly made by hand by a number of little old British chaps! Eye witnessed by Ruel James himself!
